Clarification on TET Qualification for Next Promotion by NCTE

1. Whether Pass in Paper II of TET is mandatory for promotion from School Assistant handling classes 6 to 10 to Headmaster of High Schools with classes 6 to 10. NCTE does not prescribe recruitment rules for the post of Headmaster. The recruitment may be done as per the norms/rules of the recruiting agency. Paper I of Teacher
2. Whether Pass in Paper I of TET is mandatory for promotion from Secondary Grade Teacher handling classes 1 to 5 to Headmaster of Primary Schools with classes 1 to 5 Test (TET) guidelines dated 11.02.11 is one of the essential conditions for recruitment of teachers intending to teach classes I to V and Paper II of TET guidelines is one of the essential conditions for recruitment of teachers intending to teach classes VI to VIII.


2. The NCTE vide its Regulations notified on dated 12.11.2014 (Copy enclosed) laid down the minimum qualifications for persons to be recruited as Education Teachers and Physical Education Teachers in Pre-primary, Primary, Upper Primary. Secondary, Senior Secondary or Interm4. The Second Schedule of the above Regulations deals with the minimum academic and professional qualifications of Physical Education Teachers to be recruited in Pre-primary. Primary. Upper Primary, Secondary, Senior Secondary or Intermediate Schools or Colleges.

5. Para 4 (b) of the aforesaid Regulations. 2014 provides as under:

"b. For promotion of teachers the relevant minimum qualifications as specified in the First and Second Schedule(s) are applicable for consideration from one level to the next level."

6. Hence, the above provision may also be taken into consideration while making promotion from one level to the next level.

7. This issues with the approval of Competent Authority in NCTE.
